THE MAGIC OF NEW BEGINNINGS
I’ve finally made my return to YouTube.
I honestly want to applaud myself for that, because all new beginnings are hard. Particularly when you know you’ll have to start from scratch, and in a climate where gaining the kind of traction I had on YouTube a few years ago is going to be, shall we say a challenge. But I’m back in the ring and ready to fight, and that’s what matters. Even if, so far, my subscriber count includes my mom and not many others. It takes a certain humbleness to be willing to face such a blank canvas. In fact, this is what I’ve already talked about that in one of my first vlogs: How there’s a magic to getting started. In fact, nothing is more sacred than throwing yourself headfirst into a new endeavour.
My return to YouTube has already been a massive creative unlock for me. For example, right now I’m typing up my first Medium blog after having been a lurker here for an uncomfortable amount of time.
I’ve also finally, finally, finally, completed the raw stems for two new singles that I’ve — real talk here — been sitting on for way too long courtesy of the interplay between my own shadows and fears of imperfection and failure, which can seem very real.
The point?
Sometimes, you’ve just got to DO. You’ve just got to make, and then hit publish, and not look back. It doesn’t matter that it’s not perfect. It doesn’t even need to be good — it just needs to exist. Once you’ve created something real, however crooked or frail, you’ve got something to perfect and build on top of. But until you get started and get going, you’ve got nothing.
