Marilyn Manson has been a huge creative influence on me for most of my life so, weird as it may sound to some, witnessing the scandal unfold has been low-key traumatic.

As a fan, there’s a sense of having been deceived, too. Writing about it is a way of processing it.

All this time believing it was all art, smoke and mirrors, and a dark, edgy sense of humour, only to catch the whiff of an actual rotten stench rising from beneath the floorboards.
